A few selected images of the UK City of Culture 2017. It has had a bad press in recent (and not so recent) years, often by people who haven't even set foot in it. However, it does very pleasantly surprise those visitors who venture round the corner of the Humber. Try it if you haven't already and you may be surprised too.

Well, I've been meaning to for a while, but I have now had a camera converted to 720Nm Infra Red and am enjoying playing with it. Here are some results.

The natural beauty of our countryside mostly local to me, which means East Yorkshire, an area of stunning scenery, but largely undiscovered because compared to the Dales and the Moors it is the little brother/sister. However, the Wolds and the Coast are as spectacular in their own way as their more famous neighbours.

Here you will find a selection of images made on my mobile phone(s). There will be some taken on daily dog walks, while away on trips or at any other time I see something to photograph. I use my mobile phones regularly in this way, particularly as they (together with apps like Snapseed) get better and better. No longer do we have to say 'I wish I had a camera with me'!

In early 2019 I and some friends spent a week in Ireland, on the Dingle peninsular (bottom left, or south west for the purists), the westernmost bit of Europe. The weather didn't co-operate very well, the gales blew in off the Atlantic bringing with them huge waves which crashed endlessly (but seemingly in slow motion) against the spectacular rocks and cliffs, but we had a great time. The scenery is fabulous and the people so very friendly.
So we paid a return visit early this year too (2020) and the weather was much kinder. We may be back again!
